Ashley Judd and racecar-driver hubby Dario Franchitti split up
Ashley Judd and IndyCar driver Dario Franchitti are calling it quits after more than a 11 years of marriage.
The decision was mutual, the couple said in an exclusive statement to People magazine late Tuesday. “We’ll always be family and continue to cherish our relationship based on the special love, integrity, and respect we have always enjoyed,” they said.
The statement included no information about separation or divorce plans. Judd, 44, and Franchitti, 39, married in 2001 in his native Scotland after a two-year engagement.
Memorial Day weekend — when we’ve gotten used to watching the hat-and-sundress-clad actress cheer happily for her hubby in the Indy 500 — just won’t be the same.
Judd, for one, seemed OK with her husband’s risky profession. “I made a decision early on not to worry, because it would be a terrible way to live,” she told Redbook a few years back.
The couple has no children.
