"Hey … Dad? You wanna have a catch?"
If that moment in the 1989 movie "Field of Dreams" creates a lump in your throat, you'll want to grab your own father, child or quixotically inclined baseball fan and head to the Crest Westwood for a special Father's Day screening.
Writer-director Phil Alden Robinson captured the fanciful nature of W.P. Kinsella's novel "Shoeless Joe," carved a baseball diamond into an Iowa corn field and created onscreen magic. Featuring a pitch-perfect cast led by Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones and Ray Liotta, and a shiver-inducing score from composer James Horner, "Field" drew crowds to theaters 27 summers ago and spawned a cottage industry for nostalgia-seeking fans that continues today.
