Watch David Bowie’s video for ‘Valentine’s Day’
Did you know David Bowie put out an album this year?
We’re only 6½ months into 2013, but already it feels like an eternity since the glam-rock legend released “The Next Day,” his first studio disc since 2003, back in March. (Blame “Yeezus.”)
Perhaps that’s why Bowie revealed Monday night that he’d made a music video for his song “Valentine’s Day.” Even legends need a way into the entertainment-news cycle.
Like the tune itself -- a Beatlesque guitar-pop number with a lovely vocal from Bowie -- the “Valentine’s Day” video is a fairly straightforward affair, certainly as compared to the higher-concept clips for earlier “Next Day” singles such as “Where Are We Now?” and “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” the latter of which starred Tilda Swinton as Bowie’s wife-slash-doppelganger.
Here the singer simply performs the song in an unfinished industrial space, wearing a nice linen shirt and rocking one of those guitars without a headstock. It’s got some great grimacing, too. Watch the video below.
