Showtime’s ‘Homeland’ Season 2 premiere gets Emmy ratings bump

Looks like there is an Emmy ratings bounce.

“Homeland,” fresh from its surprise Emmy win for drama last month, scored with its Season 2 premiere on Sunday, delivering 1.7 million total viewers for Showtime, according to Nielsen.

That was a 60% jump compared to the Season 1 premiere last year.

With the program running three times Sunday night, the entire audience was 2.1 million -- giving the show its highest viewership total ever.

“Homeland” could now be Showtime’s No. 2 series, behind the serial-killer drama “Dexter.”

Speaking of which, the Season 7 premiere of “Dexter” -- which was “Homeland’s” lead-in, delivered 2.4 million viewers, its highest-rated season rollout ever.

Overall, Showtime had its most-watched Sunday ever.
