Survivor: Caramoan — Fans vs. Favorites: This season of the reality juggernaut pits players from past seasons against die-hard fans of the show. Returnees include Andrea Boehlke, Francesca Hogi and Phillip Sheppard (8 p.m. CBS).

American Idol: It’s the female contestants’ turn to compete in the Hollywood round in this new episode (8 p.m. Fox).

Inside the Actors Studio: Hugh Jackman discusses his career with host James Lipton (8 p.m. Bravo).

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit: An FBI agent (Marcia Gay Harden) works with the detectives in investigating a rape/murder case from 25 years ago that she believes is connected to a series of unsolved crimes across the country. She has a suspect (Harold Perrineau) in her sights, but Benson and Amaro (Mariska Hargitay, Danny Pino) aren’t so sure he’s guilty. Dann Florek also stars in this new episode (9 p.m. NBC).

Nova: This new two-hour episode reveals spectacular new views of Earth from space (9 p.m. KOCE).

Southland: Officer Sherman (Ben McKenzie) and his partner (Shawn Hatosy) continue dealing with the fallout from the events of last season as the police drama returns. With Michael Cudlitz and Regina King (10 p.m. TNT).

Necessary Roughness: While trying to help a quarterback get to the bottom of his rage problem, Dani (Callie Thorne) tries to work out some of her own issues. Joe Theismann and Peter MacNicol guest star in this new episode (10 p.m. USA).
