Mary Jane, the earnest but flawed heroine of BET’s “Being Mary Jane” is coming back in February 2015 for Round 2.

The second season of BET’s first scripted drama will premiere Feb. 3. The season will feature 12 episodes, with the finale April 21.

The series stars Gabrielle Union as a television journalist and personality whose solid professional career is in sharp contrast to the continual upheaval in her personal and family life.

The series was created by Mara Brock Akil (“The Game”), who is executive producer along with her husband, director Salim Akil.

In the second season, Mary Jane is again juggling more than she can handle, say the press notes:

“On the home front, while both of her brothers seem to be getting their lives on the right track, her mother and niece are at war, causing everyone to choose sides. Mary Jane’s career at her cable network takes an interesting turn when she decides to feature more and more stories about the ‘Black experience.’ All the while, she makes a brave decision to try every way possible to conceive a child, just as she is opening her heart to a new man.”
