Jon Stewart’s quiz of Hillary Rodham Clinton hints at presidency

Share

Jon Stewart gave Hillary Rodham Clinton all of a minute during her “Daily Show” appearance on Tuesday to discuss her new book, “Hard Choices,” before getting down to the real business at hand.

“It’s an incredibly complex and well-reasoned eyewitness view to the history of those four years,” Stewart said to Clinton about her memoir of her time as secretary of State. “And I think I speak for everybody when I say no one cares; they just want to know if you’re running for president.”

While the former senator predictably demured from making any big announcement on Comedy Central, she was game enough to answer questions from a career aptitude test Stewart and his writers cooked up to see if she’d even enjoy being president. Whether Clinton was just playing a bit or answering honestly, her reponses were quite revealing.

Would she prefer a commute or a home office? Home office.

What shape would she prefer her office to have? Corners or no corners? “I think the world is so complicated, the fewer corners you can have, the better,” she said.

At the end, Stewart took matters into his own hands. “It sounds to me, if I may, that you’ve declared for president.”

Clinton just laughed.

Stewart’s chat with Clinton touched on policy matters, her recent gaffes and an extended discussion of the situation in Gaza and Israel.
