‘Newlywed Game’ with Sherri Shepherd heads to Bounce TV
This post has been updated. See below for details. — “The Newlywed Game” is renewing its TV vows.
Episodes of the veteran game show that pits newly married couples against each other are being revived on Bounce TV, which is geared toward African Americans. The series, which first premiered on ABC in 1965, has been on and off the air on various networks and in syndication since its launch. These episodes were previously produced for the Game Show Network.
But founding host Bob Eubanks, the personality most identified with the show, will not be along for the ride this go-round. Sherri Shepherd, one of the anchors of “The View” who had also hosted the show on GSN, will be the host, and the show will have what producers call a “decidedly sassy and contemporary flavor.”
The series will premiere this fall.
Other new Bounce TV series include the scripted comedy “My Crazy Roommate,” about two women from vastly different backgrounds who are forced to live together, and “Step Wars,” a reality series set in the world of step competitions at the country’s top black colleges and universities.
