After months of buildup, the much anticipated Alexander Wang collection for H&M was introduced Thursday morning. And then, poof, it was mostly sold out online. After crashing H&M’s website for awhile, of course.

We’ve gotten used to this drill over the years of designer high-low collections. I still treasure my Missoni for Target hat from several seasons back, in no small part because of the strategy it took to hit the website at just the right time to nail it.

Wang for H&M items immediately made their way to EBay -- again, what we’ve come to expect. A duffel priced at $129 on H&M’s site was $269.99 (“or best offer”) on EBay, for instance. A $59.99 T-shirt dress, sold out at H&M, was snapped up soon after appearing on EBay for $120. But I won’t be surprised if it shows up on EBay again, maybe for $180 or $200.
