Celeb-studded May 17 garage sale to fund ovarian cancer research

Rachel Zoe and Molly Sims (and their spouses) will be hosting the Super Saturday L.A. fundraiser at Santa Monica Airport’s Barker Hangar on Saturday, marking the first-ever West Coast installment of the long-running designer-charity-shopping-meets-high-end-garage-sale event that has long been held in the Hamptons.

An annual fundraiser to benefit the Ovarian Cancer Research Fund, the event is making a cross-country move to mark that organization’s 20th anniversary, and, according to past attendees we’ve spoken with, it’s traditionally a fantastical family-oriented affair that can easily fill an entire day.

The shopping involves deeply discounted (as in up to half off retail) prices designer apparel for men, women and children as well as beauty products, jewelry and accessories. Designers on tap for the West Coast debut include: Versace, Rachel Zoe, Kate Spade Saturday, James Perse, Rachel Pally, Trina Turk, Erin by Erin Featherston, Kenneth Cole, David Meister, Hudson Jeans and Cosabella.

In addition to the serious retail component, there’s a range of other hilarious-sounding events and activities unspooling over the course of the day. Among them: a cooking demonstration by actress Tiffani Thiessen, a selfie tutorial led by Decades co-owner Cameron Silver (who will also be selling a curated collection of the boutique’s vintage pieces) and a DIY cupcake decorating station for kids with celebrity chef Duff Goldman.

For those who prefer to shop for a good cause from the privacy of their home, the event includes an online auction component accessible through www.charitybuzz.com/supersaturday.

Super Saturday L.A., hosted by Rachel Zoe, Rodger Berman, Molly Sims and Scott Stuber, May 17, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Barker Hangar, Santa Monica. Additional details, including ticket prices and purchasing information, can be found at www.supersaturday.ocrf.org.
