Dress for Success pop-up among numerous holiday sales this week

Dress for Success is offering a great shopping opportunity with its third annual pop-up shop.

The shop, designed by Lisa Adams of L.A. Closet Design, is offering discounts of 50% to 70% on new and vintage clothing from more than 100 brands including Cynthia Rowley, Catherine Malandrino, Henri Bendel, David Meister, LAMB, AG Jeans, Nanette Lapore. and Stuart Weitzman.

The shop also features an eco-designer showcase including items such as shoes by Coclico, vegan handbags by Urban Expressions and necklaces made by indigenous Peruvian artisans.

All proceeds are slated to go to support career development and retention programs for Dress for Success Worldwide-West, which provides work-appropriate clothing and career development tools and support to help women work toward self-sufficiency.

The shop is at 1101 Westwood Blvd., Los Angeles. It will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday.

Holiday Events

Hundreds of artisans are expected this weekend at the Harvest Festival Original Arts and Crafts Show at the Fairplex in Pomona. There will be crafts and artisanal goods for sale, entertainment, crafting demonstrations, a kid zone, specialty foods and more. Hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $7 for adults 62 and older; $9 for other adults; $4 for youths 13 to 18 years old; and free for children 12 and younger. Adults and seniors who bring a non-perishable food item to donate to GAP Food Bank Ministries will receive a $2 discount on admission. The Fairplex is at 1101 W. McKinley Ave.

Several designers are combining forces for a holiday studio sale from noon to 6 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. Wares including jewelry, candles, leather goods and table linens will be up to 25% off. Participating designers include Ariel Gordon Jewelry, Maya Brenner Designs, Heather Taylor Home, Le Feu De L’eau and Mara Carrizo Scalise. The event, which includes juice provided by Pressed Juicery and nail polish gift bags for the first 50 customers each day from RGB, will be at 448 S. Hill St., Los Angeles.

Malibu County Mart begins a series of free holiday events for families on Saturday. The schedule includes a stocking and dreidel decorating party and face painting this Saturday, photos with Santa and cookie decorating on Dec. 14 and photos with Santa and a visit by live reindeer on Dec. 21. All three events are scheduled from noon to 4 p.m., with strolling carolers expected from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 21. The shopping center is at 3835 Cross Creek Road, Malibu.

A Current Affair’s pop-up vintage marketplace and holiday gift market is scheduled Saturday from 1 to 7 p.m. at the Cooper Design Space, 860 S. Los Angeles St., 11th floor, in L.A. Regular admission is $10 and early admission at noon is $20. A portion of profits is earmarked for the Art of Elysium nonprofit, which encourages members of the arts community to work with ill children.

Sample and Warehouse Sales

Cynthia Vincent’s fall sample sale started Wednesday and continues from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Cooper building, 860 S. Los Angeles St., Suite 422, Los Angeles. Cash and credit cards only.

Raquel Allegra’s sample sale offers women’s clothing at 50% to 75% off retail. It’s scheduled from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at 834 S. Broadway, 4th floor, Los Angeles. No credit cards.

Rachel Pally’s warehouse sale is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at 2301 E. 7th St., Suite C100, Los Angeles. Cash, Visa or Mastercard only.

Junk Food’s sample sale of men’s, women’s and children’s apparel continues over the next three Fridays at the Cooper Design Space, 860 S. Los Angeles St., Suite 200, Los Angeles. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 6 and Dec. 13 and 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 20. Junk Food tees will be $10 and fleece will be $15. Items from the Stray Heart collection will be $20, sale organizers said.

Ivanhoe Elementary School’s Holiday Boutique Sample Sale features samples from designers Cynthia Vincent, Trina Turk and Clare Vivier among a large roster of others. Online boutique Anthom will be featured in a pop-up shop in the loft at Satine on 3rd from Friday through Dec. 12. The pop-up will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. except Sunday, when hours are noon to 6 p.m. Satine is at 8134 W. 3rd St., Los Angeles.

Openings

Splendid plans to celebrate the opening of its new Manhattan Beach store with an afternoon of family fun from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. The event is to include crafts, candy and 20% off purchases from the new collection. The store is at 329 Manhattan Beach Blvd.
