Lingerie purveyor La Perla has opened a new-concept boutique at South Coast Plaza.

La Perla has been reshaping its image since it was acquired by holding company Pacific Global Management. The retooled retail concept started with its flagships in London and Milan last winter, and the new boutique at South Coast marks the new concept’s introduction in the United States.

Architect Roberto Baciocchi designed the new look of the stores. (He has also designed for Prada and Miu Miu.) At La Perla, he used Portuguese marble, painted fabric on the walls and a palette of pale blue, dusky pink and daffodil yellow with amethyst walls in the fitting rooms. The latter are entered through a symbolic gateway and include a service bell for summoning sales staff.

In September, La Perla will celebrate its 60th anniversary, rolling out a fall winter collection focused on key elements including lace, lingerie that can be worn as outerwear and what company representatives call “the spirit of the atelier.”

South Coast Plaza is at 3333 Bristol St., Costa Mesa.
