New York Fashion Week spring 2014: J. Crew review
NEW YORK -- Tom Mora presented the J. Crew women’s collection to the usual packed house Tuesday morning at New York Fashion Week, and the peppy Aloha prints and colors were a great early morning pick-me-up.
The inspiration: “The California coast, where it feels like summer all the time with casual fabrics like neoprene and bold floral prints, contrasted with the Lido lifestyle of the Venetian coast at turn of the century, where it was about really proper dress in lace, eyelets and nautical stripes,” Mora said.
The look: Dressed up beach.
Key pieces: Burgundy hibiscus beaded track pants; neon starburst floral embroidered sundress; neon hibiscus jacquard pant and matching Sophia Webster for J. Crew pumps; white cotton laser-cut eyelet maxiskirt with drawstring waist; floral neoprene flippy skirt; big wave intarsia sweater worn with rainbow-stripe satin track pant; “Aloha” T-shirt worn with iridescent mint lace skirt.
