During an intimate, candlelit dinner at A.O.C. in West Hollywood to celebrate “Scandal” star and Elle magazine cover girl Kerry Washington, Elle editor in chief Robbie Myers told guests, including Anita Hill, Rachel Zoe and hubby Rodger Berman, and Washington’s costars Bellamy Young, Katie Lowes and Darby Stanchfield, that April’s cover was one of her favorites. (It features Washington wearing a vintage-inspired sweatshirt from Shinola and plenty of bling.)

“Not just because of how she looks — beautiful, fierce and in command — but because of who Kerry is, right at this moment, and what she’s come to represent in our culture,” Myers said.

The April 2 gathering, hosted by Elle and watchmaker Movado, also was in honor of Washington’s 10 years as a Movado brand ambassador and her new HBO film “Confirmation,” in which Washington plays Anita Hill who, in 1991, accused Clarence Thomas of sexual harassment during Senate hearings on his confirmation to the Supreme Court. The film by director Rick Famuyiwa premieres Saturday.
