Gingham goes glam with Dolce & Gabbana, Michael Kors and more
Dorothy Gale famously donned summery blue gingham on the yellow brick road in “The Wizard of Oz” and Brigitte Bardot said “I do” in a pink gingham frock at her 1959 wedding to actor Jacques Charrier. Miley Cyrus wore a glam sequined version by Ashish to a recent interview.
Fashion labels including Michael Kors, Altuzarra and Diane von Furstenberg are reviving the checked print this season on everything from sandals and handbags to shorts and dresses.
Local denim brand Current/Elliott has created gingham-patterned jeans. Marc Jacobs offers a blown-up, blurred variation of the all-American print, while Oscar de la Renta has come up with a checks mix, so to speak, contrasting gingham with ikat.
