Plaid isn’t cold-weather-only, dreary wear; it’s seasonless and fun

Share

Triple-digit temperatures, as some areas had in early October, are not exactly an invitation to get cozy in shaggy knits and shearling. Even the milder (but still warm) temperatures that followed still raise the question: How to autumnize an L.A. wardrobe? The season’s new plaid looks offer a fast fashion update that is often seasonless too. What’s new is the lack of tradition. Country tartans go sleek and urban, dressed up with sequined, embroidered and beaded detailing. Contrasting plaid patterns are layered together or mixed on a single piece. The timeless checked print has shed its fusty image and decided to have some fun.
