Actors Chrissy Metz, Minnie Driver and Zoey Deutch have been tapped to serve as celebrity ambassadors for the VIP night in Westwood on Thursday that marks the start of the five-day Shop for Success designer shopping event that supports the efforts of Dress for Success Worldwide West.

The event, now in its seventh year, serves up deep discounts (as much as 70% off retail) on women’s clothing, shoes, handbags and accessories, as well as men’s clothing, eco-friendly and vintage items from some 150 luxury labels including Prada, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, Rebecca Minkoff, Theory, Elizabeth & James and Tadashi Shoji. to name just a few.

Tickets to the Thursday night VIP kickoff event cost $75 or $100 each, which might sound pricey until you realize that comes with a GUESS handbag filled with $400 worth of gifts and a head start on the shopping frenzy (the $75 level comes with 6 p.m. access to the sales floor, the $100 level gets you in the door one hour prior to that) and that 100% of ticket and retail sales go directly toward the nonprofit Dress for Success Worldwide West’s career development and employment retention programs.

The event will also include live music (by DJ Shammy Dee), specialty cocktails (from Casamigos Tequila), appetizers (by Sarah Leibsohn), a silent auction and a roaming band of personal stylists on tap to help shoppers.

The charity shopping event reopens the next morning – free of charge -- and runs through Monday. Additional information, including daily hours and a link to purchase opening-night tickets, can be found at www.shopforsuccessla.com. And, if you can’t make the VIP night but are still motivated by the holiday spirit to support the organization, there’s also a link to make a donation. Last year’s event added more than $175,000 to the coffers of Dress for Success, which provides professional attire and support to help women achieve economic independence.

Shop for Success, Thursday through Monday at 1101 Westwood Blvd., Los Angeles.
