Shailene Woodley rocks the crop; remembering Marilyn Monroe
Top of crops: Proving that no matter how many times designers show crop tops on the runway, the only place they truly translate is in Hollywood, Shailene Woodley (who seems to have a particular penchant for the crop) stepped out in the above Proenza Schouler look at a screening from “The Spectacular Now” Tuesday night in Los Angeles. The cropped top and skirt ensemble is from Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez’s Resort 2014 collection. The dream-catcher necklace by H.O.W.L. (Handle Only With Love) is pretty cool, too. (And, just in case you were wondering, the necklace is available at Lefthouse on Abbot Kinney in Venice.)*
Hudson, Taylor and tots: Kate Hudson has renewed her relationship with Ann Taylor, returning this fall with another round of advertisements for the retailer, this time appearing with her two young nephews in the photographs. The ads break in September magazines. [WWD (subscription required)]
Monroe memorial: The 51st anniversary of Marilyn Monroe’s untimely death on Aug. 5, 1962, is being marked with a series of events organized by the Hollywood Museum beginning Friday and ending with a graveside memorial service Monday. It seems the original “Candle in the Wind” has become pop culture’s eternal flame. [All The Rage]
Current, Elliot and Teens: Los Angeles-based designers and stylists Emily Current and Meritt Elliott, who left their namesake denim label Current/Elliott last year, are getting back into design with a collection of furniture and home accessories for PBteen, Williams-Sonoma’s teen division of Pottery Barn. The collection will be available online Sept. 18 and in stores Sept. 20. [WWD (subscription required)]
