‘Jerusalem’ book signings, Son of a Gun cocktails, Wine Riot

“Jerusalem”: London-based chef-restaurateur Yotam Ottolenghi will be in Los Angeles this weekend, part of his book signing tour after this month’s publication of “Jerusalem: A Cookbook,” the cookbook he wrote with his partner, Sam Tamimi. Ottolenghi, who also wrote “Plenty” and heads five restaurants in London, stops in at Joan’s on Third on Sunday from noon to 3 p.m. In the evening, Ottolenghi will lead a cooking demonstration at a “Jerusalem” reception, dinner and signing at Mozza’s Scuola di Pizza; here, reservations are required (available at www.mozza2go.com) and cost $150 per person for dinner and a copy of the book. Fall cocktails: For the fall, Son of a Gun general manager Daniel Warrilow has introduced new cocktails, including spiced ciders and “cider cups” instead of summer’s “Tiki cones” and beer shandies. Cider cups are made with house pressed apple cider, lemon, ginger and your choice of bourbon, Applejack, anejo rum, rye, Cognac, etc. Hot drinks include Irish coffee, chamomile hot toddy and hot buttered rum. Wine Riot: Interactive wine tasting event Wine Riot returns to L.A. at Majestic Halls downtown on Saturday, Nov. 10. Helmed by tech-inclined events company Second Glass, Wine Riot LA will feature more than 250 wines from wineries from the Loire Valley and Burgundy in France to South Africa, Portugal and Australia; food vendors such as Madalyn’s Cupcakes and Crispy Waffle & Frite; wine seminars; and live music from DJ Cassette. Wine Riot’s app, created specifically for the event, is preloaded with every wine available for tasting at the event and stores details about each wine that users “like” or “love,” allows users to receive notifications of crowd favorites, and can be used to find local stores that carry their favorites. Riot One, from 1 to 5 p.m., and Riot Two, from 7 to 11 p.m. Tickets are $50 per person, including tastings, and are available at WineRiotLA/Tickets.
