Le Fooding comes to MOCA Geffen on April 26-27

Paris-based culinary group Le Fooding, the organization behind its namesake magazine, website and public food events, is bringing its gastro-fest to Los Angeles this spring, to be held at the MOCA Geffen Contemporary on April 26 and 27.

It will be the first Le Fooding event in Los Angeles, in the vein of events in New York, Milan and Paris. Founded by Alexandre Cammas 12 years ago, Le Fooding (an amalgam of “Food” and “Feeling”) bills itself as “a cool alternative to the Michelin guide and aims at supporting the creativity, personality and originality of the cuisines and restaurants of our time.” (A video of the Brooklyn Le Fooding event last fall is above.)

Dubbed Le Grand Fooding Crush Paris-L.A 2013, the two-day event in Los Angeles will feature four Parisian and six Angeleno chefs. The French chefs are: Jean-François Piège (Jean-Francois Piège), Inaki Aizpitarte (Le Chateaubriand), Grégory Marchand (Frenchie) and Sven Chartier (Saturne). The L.A. chefs: Nancy Silverton (Mozza and Chi Spacca), Ludo Lefebvre (Trois Mecs), Roy Choi (Kogi BBQ, A-Frame and Sunny Spot), Josef Centeno (Bäco Mercat and Bar Amá), Jordan Kahn (Red Medicine) and Carolynn Spence (Château Marmont).

Anna Polonsky, who heads Le Fooding’s France-U.S. partnerships, told The Times earlier this year, “We really try to find an editorial angle and to curate the event around it.” One New Yorker article described the events as a cross between “a dinner buffet and the Woodstock festival.”

For what Le Fooding’s Cammas calls “the capital of dude chefs, the best food trucks in the world and cuisine without borders ... the plan is to set up a huge outdoor urban picnic in front of MOCA Geffen Contemporary, with the best chefs from Paris and L.A. and the top DJs and graphic designers from both cities animating the dinner.”

Tickets will be available for purchase online at www.legrandfooding.com beginning of April; 20% of ticket proceeds will go to the L.A. Food Bank and MOCA.
