2008 Sineann Pinot Noir
If you’re a serious Pinot Head, then you already know about Sineann, the small dedicated producer in Yamhill County, Ore. The single-vineyard bottlings are pricey -- and very, very good, but the plain Oregon bottling, made from a blend of grapes from some of those same highly regarded vineyards, is a rare bargain.
For less than $30, you can drink a Pinot that tastes as if it cost much more. Rich and round, the 2008 is an intense beauty with a strong cool-climate Oregon character. It has elegance and grace and is a wonderful match for pretty much any food you want to put in front of it.
I like it with a fish in red wine sauce, a classic quiche Lorraine or chicken pot pie and, of course, a rotisserie duck or chicken.
