Bartender Matthew Biancaniello is popping up at the Fat Dog in Noho all summer
Matthew Biancaniello sets up an array of ingredients he will use to create his unique cocktails at a Feb. 28 event in downtown Los Angeles.
If you can catch bartender extraordinaire Matthew Biancaniello behind a bar, it’s a good day. And we’ll save you the trouble of stalking him: You can find him all summer long at the Fat Dog in North Hollywood.
Starting June 10, and every Wednesday after that through the summer, Biancaniello will be popping up at a bar on the patio of the restaurant. And he’ll be making his signature mad-scientist creations -- but this time, with an ocean-inspired theme.
“I’m looking to source as many things from the ocean as possible,” Biancaniello said, and he’s not just talking about the liquor-infused oysters he’s known for. He’s talking about whale blow holes.
“I’m trying to get the calcium deposits from whale blow holes legally,” he said. “They are supposed to have an amazing ocean flavor.”
Biancaniello spent a week swimming with humpback whales in the Dominican Republic. He said the calcium deposits wash up on the shore after blowing out of the whale’s holes.
If you’re not into that sort of thing, Biancaniello always has a variety of fresh produce, foraged herbs, edible flowers and his own infused spirits handy.
