Olive Garden breadstick sandwiches headed to the menu this summer

Share

What if Olive Garden took its unlimited breadsticks and used them to make chicken Parmesan sandwiches? You’re not dreaming, this is really happening.

The Italian chain restaurant announced it will start selling Breadstick Sandwiches in June.

“Just when you thought breadsticks couldn’t get any better ... introducing the Breadstick Sandwich, coming this summer!” tweeted someone from the Olive Garden account.

Jeff Smith, chief executive at Starboard, the company that took control of Olive Garden’s parent company, Darden’s, board last year, also mentioned the Breadstick Sandwiches on a recent episode of “Wall Street Week.”

“We’re going to use that great brand equity and we’re about to come up with breadstick sandwiches,” said Smith.

According to an Olive Garden representative, there will be two versions of the Breadstick Sandwich, including a signature breadstick bun chicken Parmigiana sandwich and a signature breadstick bun Italian meatball sandwich.

The chicken Parmigiana sandwich includes a fried chicken cutlet, melted cheese and marianara sauce. The meatball version includes meatballs, melted cheese and marinara sauce.

As if breadstick fans weren’t already making breadstick sandwiches before this. But now Olive Garden will do the work for you, and serve you a side of fries.

We’re still waiting to hear if the Breadsticks Sandwiches will come with unlimited breadsticks. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
