B.o.s. closing, Pistola, Hutchinson Indonesian steakhouse opening soon

B.o.s., David Bartnes’ “nose to tail” restaurant in downtown’s Little Tokyo announced it will close Sept. 27. The restaurant issued a statement on its website saying they were “unable to generate enough buzz to keep up with the high costs of maintaining a nose-to-tail restaurant” in that location. The restaurant opened in October and was known for serving raw beef tongue, raw beef heart and tripe “calamari.” When Times’ restaurant critic Jonathan Gold reviewed b.o.s., he likened it to “one of those anonymous eight-seat restaurants on a high floor of a Roppongi office building in Tokyo, sparsely populated with customers brought together by their shared love of calves’ brains and Nina Simone.” 424 E. 2nd St., Los Angeles, (213) 700-7834, bos-la.com.

Pistola, a new Italian steakhouse by chef Vic Casanova (Gusto) and business partner Seth Glassman is slated to open Sept. 18 in the space formerly occupied by AOC on West Third Street. Hutchinson Cocktails & Grill, an Indonesian-focused steakhouse is slated to open soon on La Cienega Boulevard. Executive chef James Trees will serve his interpretation of traditional Indonesian food with lobster tom-kah with coconut, galangal, lime juice, bean sprouts and mushrooms; beef rendang with short rib, Indonesian curry, coconut rice and caramelized baby bok choy; green curry fried chicken with gula jawa syrup; and a 16-ounce rib-eye with a choice of bone marrow Bordelaise, Bearnaise, curry hollandaise or Szechuan Peppercorn. 826 N.
