Roasted strawberry goat cheese blondies, corn cakes with fruit and other cool combos

Share

We all have our odd food quirks. Some involve mixing flavors together that seem wrong, but end up being so right. During Monday morning’s #weekendeats chat on Twitter, participants got creative over the weekend with their flavor combinations. And the result made for a delicious chat. Here are the highlights:

Meghan, from the blog Buttercream Blondie decided to put a spin on the traditional blondie. She used roasted strawberries and goat cheese to give her bars a savory twist.

Daisy from the blog Daisy’s World also put strawberries to good use last weekend. She made corncakes topped with a strawberry and yellow tomato salsa.

This next recipe is a nice flavor combination, but it’s also a simple, good idea. Olga from the blog Mango and Tomato made use of some dates in a spinach salad with berries, citrus and almonds.

Orly from the blog Yumivore got our attention Monday morning with a familiar flavor combination done in a new way. Here’s a picture of an egg baked into the middle of an avocado. She also made fried squash blossoms in beer batter.
