Where’s your holiday cookie recipe?

Share

Have you entered your favorite holiday cookie yet? It’s not too late, but time is ticking away (the deadline is Nov. 2).

Samantha Ferraro of Seal Beach got an early jump with her recipe for rugelach, saying that it is “a cookie I grew up with and dear to my heart. It is a traditional Jewish cookie, so I make it every year for the holidays to celebrate Hanukkah. I used dark cherry preserves and chopped green pistachios as the filling to offer a ‘red/green’ look for Christmas colors and have a marriage of the holidays. I love this cookie so much. It’s sweet and buttery, creamy from the cream cheese dough with a slight tart from the cherries. Happy holidays!”

Once we’ve gotten all of the recipes, there’ll be 10 days of voting, then we’ll take the top 50 finishers to Le Cordon Bleu cooking school in Pasadena to be baked and judged. The winners will get a tour of the Times Test Kitchen, and their recipes and pictures will be published in the Saturday section in December.
