She oversees projects which involve working with businesses to meet their workforce needs including staff recruitment and employee development training. Prior to joining Community Career Development, Shakoor-Akbar served as the Executive Director for Women in Nontraditional Employment Roles.

Learn how to address the emotional aspects of this journey and emerge on the other side with strength and working again.
Ruth Luban is the author of Are You a Corporate Refugee? A Survival Guide for Downsized, Displaced and Disillusioned Worker (Penguin, 2001) and of the self-published, Keeping the Fire: From Burnout to Balance. "Already traumatized by job loss and change, corporate refugees are further stressed by the grueling nature of a job search, to the point that burnout can result," Luban says. Having spent the last thirty years developing workshops and treatment programs, not only is Luban an expert in stress management, but also a counselor and consultant in private practice.

There are many resources available to help you find that perfect job, but first you must make sure you have the marketing tools to get in the door. This session will provide you with suggestions on how to "package" your background and experience using written marketing tools. You will also learn about the latest job search strategies, how to use the Internet to your advantage, how to respond to ads, use employment agencies, find a headhunter, and much, much more.
Susan W. Miller is a National Certified Career Counselor (NCCC), a Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) and holds Diplomate status in the American Board of Vocational Experts (ABVE). Miller received her Masters degree in Counseling Psychology at UC Berkeley and conducts a private career counseling practice with her company, California Career Services. She is also the career counselor for latimes.com and has taught career-related courses at UCLA Extension.

A senior consultant for CareerSystems International, Sago oversees the development and certification of facilitators and trainers and has been the instructional designer for their web-based products. Sago is also involved with consulting, designing and conducting customized workshops and programs for employees, managers and trainers in large corporations as well as non-profit organizations.
