The Minority Editorial Training Program (METPRO) is a unique, two-year diversity program designed to help beginning journalists launch careers in reporting, copy editing and graphic design at the Los Angeles Times. The reporting program was established by The Times in 1984. The copyediting program began at Newsday, its former sister newspaper in New York, in 1989.
