Ricardo Jimenez scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly by Edgar Alcala in the top of the sixth for visiting Garfield (6-18, 3-7). Robert Maldonado (2-4) threw six innings for the win and Martin Soto earned up his first save. Huntington Park is 1-9 in league.

Winning pitcher Cesar Martinez (4-0) struck out eight in four innings, Ramon Marquez hit his sixth home run, Jose Calvillo was three for four with two runs scored and Freddy Castellanos was two for two with two runs scored for visiting Roosevelt (18-4, 8-2). L.A. Jordan is 6-10.

Randy Molina pitched a scoreless seventh inning to get his fourth save for visiting South Gate (14-9, 8-2). Bell is 8-2 in league.

Humberto Bocanegra went two for four with five RBIs, including a three-run double with the bases loaded in the first inning, to lead host Carson (14-11, 7-3). Wilmington Banning is 5-5 in league.

Derick Brewster (5-4) pitched a five-hitter with seven strikeouts and Omar Flores went one for three with a run scored and an RBI to lead visiting Narbonne (11-14, 6-4) past Gardena (2-8 in league).

Jordan Brandt pitched a one-hitter, and Sammy Donabedian had a two-run home run and a sacrifice fly for host El Camino Real (18-7, 8-2). Chad Boyd added a run-scoring double for El Camino Real. Brandt (5-2) struck out four and did not allow an earned run. Jason King had a run-scoring double for Granada Hills (12-14, 3-7).

Jordan Alcantar, who was three for five, Jose Quiroz, who went three for five, and Juan Medina, who went five for five, each had a home run and a pair of RBIs for Venice. Dorian Simon earned the win for the Gondoliers (13-12, 5-5).

Gustavo Pena (1-0) pitched a four-hitter with four strikeouts and Enrique Raucha tripled and scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning for Dorsey (5-5-1, 5-4-1) at first-place Fremont (9-6, 8-2).

Sergio Martinez had a game-winning RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the 10th inning and Jonathan Rocha threw all 10 innings for L.A. Wilson.

Carlos Melara pitched a nine-hitter with nine strikeouts and no walks to lead host North Hollywood (7-9, 4-5). Kyle Boas hit a two-run home run in the first inning for the Canoga Park (4-21, 1-9).

Sun Valley Poly 12, Grant 1
The Parrots (16-6, 9-0) increased their lead in the league race to 2-1/2 games with the win at Grant (13-10, 6-2).

Freshman Matt Dominguez had a three-run home run and a run-scoring single and Willie Cabrera had four hits, including a two-run double and a run-scoring single, for host Chatsworth (25-0, 9-0).

Freshman Andrew Lambo had two home runs, including a grand slam, and Angel Nunez had a two-run double for host Cleveland (15-7, 5-4). Birmingham is 12-10, 3-6.

Chad Boyd had three hits, inccluding a two-run home run, and Josh Pettis (6-2) struck out six and allowed three hits in five innings for visiting El Camino Real (17-7, 7-2). Granada Hills is 12-13, 3-6.

WESTERN LEAGUE

Hamilton 8, Westchester 7
Alex Martin ended the game with a two-run home run with one out in the bottom of the seventh for Hamilton (6-10, 3-5). Chris Valencia had a grand slam in the top of the seventh to give Westchester (5-15, 4-5) a 7-6 lead.

Kevin Seto went four for four with two runs scored, Dylan Cohen hit a three-run home run and Geoff Schwartz (5-1) went seven innings with 10 strikeouts to lead host Palisades (14-3, 9-0) over L.A. Univeristy (6-16, 2-7).

Robert Soto (5-3) went four innings with six strikeouts for Venice (12-11, 4-5), which had five players with two hits.

Trayvon Robinson was six for six with a two-run home run and a grand slam and Anthony Moore, William Harrel and Xavier Elder all hit two-run home runs to lead Crenshaw (4-9, 3-6) over host Manual Arts (1-8 in league). The winning pitcher was Otinel Ramirez (1-1) with five strikeouts.

Fremont 9, Dorsey 5
The Pathfinders (9-5, 8-1) maintained a two-game lead over Locke with the road victory.

Locke 12, Jefferson 9 (8 innings)
Junior Edgar Munez went three for four with three RBIs and senior Jamel Wells went one for two with two RBIs, two runs scored and two stolen bases for visiting Locke (11-6, 7-4). Jefferson is 5-6 in league.
