Nick Ashford: The obituary of songwriter Nick Ashford in the Aug. 24 LATExtra section said that Ashford and his wife, Valerie Simpson, were responsible for the song “Missing You” recorded by Diana Ross. Lionel Richie wrote “Missing You.”

Black hole research: An article in the Aug. 25 Section A about new research concerning a supermassive black hole seen swallowing a star included an artist’s rendering of the event. The image, which was credited to Amadeo Bachar of Nature, should have been credited to Aurore Simonnet of Sonoma State University.

“What Matters Most”: A review in the Aug. 23 Calendar section of “What Matters Most: Barbra Streisand Sings the Lyrics of Alan and Marilyn Bergman” said it was Streisand’s “thirty-something-th” album. It is her 65th album.

Big Sur photos: An Aug. 21 Travel section article on camping in Big Sur was accompanied by captions for a cover photo and an additional photo inside the section that referred to Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park as Pfeiffer Big Sur State Park, a different park.

Track and field: An article in the Aug. 24 Sports section about track athlete Allyson Felix misspelled the last name of former Olympic runner Valerie Brisco-Hooks as Brisco-Hicks.

University of California: An article in the Aug. 22 Section A about the University of California’s finances and tuition said the university was founded in 1869. A single campus at first, UC opened its doors to students in 1869 but was established by legislation signed by then-Gov. Henry H. Haight on March 23, 1868.

Del Mar race: A column in the Aug. 23 Sports section about the Pacific Classic thoroughbred race at Del Mar said that 15 years ago the racehorse Cigar was attempting to win his 16th consecutive race. In fact, Cigar entered that year’s Pacific Classic attempting to win his 17th race in a row.
