Lap-Band device: An article in the May 24 Section A about efforts by Allergan Inc. to win approval for use of its Lap-Band weight-loss device in adolescents as young as 14 erred in describing the device. It is a silicone ring fitted around the stomach to reduce food intake, not a silicon ring. A brief news article in the May 16 Health section about a study of patients who received gastric bypass surgery for weight loss and those who received Lap-Band surgery, comparing their risks of developing alcoholism, made the same error.

Daniel Catan: An article in the May 25 Calendar section about a tribute to composer Daniel Catan said that Rolando Villazon had recorded the version of Catan’s song “Comprendo” that was heard over a radio in Los Angeles Opera’s production of “Il Postino.” The singer on that recording was Gregorio González.
