Cities’ legal fees: An article in the Aug. 5 California section about legal fees charged to cities for a bond sale should have included more information about the process. As the story reported, hundreds of cities signed identical bond documents, but the amount the cities paid for the legal work varied widely. The article also should have said that some cities negotiated changes to some documents before they were finalized, requiring additional legal work and higher fees.
