Earthquake: 3.2 quake strikes near Hawthorne, Nev.

A shallow magnitude 3.2 earthquake was reported Wednesday evening eight miles from Hawthorne, Nev., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 7:15 p.m. Pacific time at a depth of 3.7 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 62 miles from Gardnerville Ranchos, Nev., 75 miles from Carson City, Nev., 75 miles from South Lake Tahoe, and 86 miles from Fernley, Nev.

In the past 10 days, there have been three earthquakes magnitude 3.0 and greater centered nearby.
