Earthquake: 3.3 quake strikes near Salinas, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.3 earthquake was reported Friday evening 13 miles from Soledad, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 9:02 p.m. PST at a depth of 5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 24 miles from Salinas, Calif., 19 miles from Greenfield, Calif., 19 miles from Hollister, Calif., and 137 miles from Sacramento.

In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes magnitude 3 or greater centered nearby.
