Earthquake: 3.0 quake strikes near Santa Ynez

A shallow magnitude 3.0 earthquake was reported Friday morning eight miles from Santa Ynez, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 8:45 a.m. PDT near the surface.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 10 miles from Goleta and 16 miles from Santa Barbara.
In the last 10 days, there have been no earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
