Earthquake: 1.8 quake strikes near Yucca Valley, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 1.8 earthquake was reported Thursday morning four miles from Yucca Valley, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 10:13 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 7.5 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was eight miles from Desert Hot Springs, Calif., 17 miles from Palm Springs and 18 miles from Cathedral City, Calif.

In the last 10 days, there have been three earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
