Earthquake: 3.7 quake strikes near Borrego Springs

A shallow magnitude 3.7 earthquake was reported Sunday morning five miles from Borrego Springs, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 5:23 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 8.1 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was approximately 22 miles from La Quinta, 24 miles from Coachella and 26 miles from Palm Desert.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
