Earthquake: 3.9 temblor strikes near Gerlach-Empire, Nev.
A shallow magnitude 3.9 earthquake was reported Sunday morning 17 miles from Gerlach-Empire, Nev., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:53 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 0 miles.
According to the USGS, the epicenter was 71 miles from Susanville, Calif.; 83 miles from Spanish Springs, Nev.; and 84 miles from Fernley, Nev.
In the last 10 days, there have been two earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
