All southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway were reopened Wednesday morning after a fatal collision in Lawndale.
Southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway in Lawndale were reopened Wednesday morning after a fatal collision shut down traffic for several hours.
Initial reports indicate that an automobile and a big rig collided about 4:15 a.m. on the freeway at Hawthorne Boulevard, said Officer Francisco Villalobos of the California Highway Patrol, adding that it was possible other vehicles were involved.

Officers arrived to find a body lying in traffic lanes, he said.
Officers diverted traffic to Hawthorne Boulevard until 8 a.m., when freeway lanes were reopened, Villalobos said.
