Man killed, woman injured in shootout outside San Gabriel Valley restaurant, authorities say

A man was killed and a woman injured Tuesday night in a shooting outside a restaurant in the San Gabriel Valley’s unincorporated Bassett area, authorities said.

At least two people were involved in a gunfight in the 13100 block of Valley Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff’s Lt. Joe Mendoza told KTLA-TV that the shooting took place at an outdoor patio of the El Jalisco Café. A taco truck set up in the restaurant’s parking lot was busy with customers at the time, KTLA reported.

Deputies arriving at the scene also found a woman with a gunshot wound to her lower body; she was taken to a hospital for treatment, authorities said.

There was no information on a suspect early Wednesday, the sheriff’s department said in a statement.

The sheriff’s department has asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
