The Los Angeles police bomb squad was dispatched to the Times’ parking garage downtown after police received a report Sunday night of a suspicious package on the structure’s second floor, authorities said.
Police have blocked access to the garage in the 200 block of South Spring Street, authorities said. A section of Spring and Broadway between 2nd and 3rd streets were closed.
Police received a call about the package around 9:45 p.m. and arrived minutes later, said police Sgt. Ed Kinney. He said the call came from someone inside the parking structure.
The garage is used by the newspaper’s employees as well as other tenants who rent space inside the Times building.
