A California Highway Patrol officer on a motorcycle was injured in a collision Monday morning on the northbound 170 Freeway, prompting a four-lane closure near Burbank Boulevard.
The extent of the officer's injuries was not immediately known, CHP Officer Tony Polizzi said. Live TV footage showed wreckage from the crash strewn across freeway lanes as the officer was loaded onto an ambulance.
According to the CHP traffic incident log, the CHP officer and a Mini Cooper collided about 8:07 a.m. on the freeway.
The CHP later issued a SigAlert and closed lanes as rescue ambulances and investigators responded to the area.
The lanes were expected to be closed until 11 a.m.
