Elsinore blaze grows to 1,200 acres; evacuations ordered

A rapidly growing brush fire has burned at least 1,200 acres and forced evacuations in and around the Cleveland National Forest.
Residents of Lakeland Village, Decker Canyon and Rancho Capistrano are under a mandatory evacuation order, according to the U.S. Forest Service’s incident information website.
The Ortega Highway, a connector route between Riverside and Orange County, has also been closed to nonresidents between Lake Elsinore and Antonio Parkway in Orange County.
About 265 fire personnel are battling the Falls fire.
The Orange County Fire Authority has sent 15 firefighters, a hand crew with 22 members, five brush engines and other personnel to assist, Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
An evacuation center was opened at Lakeside High School in Lake Elsinore. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
