A 37-year-old Compton man has been sentenced Wednesday to 36½ years for pimping two teen girls, one of whom he reportedly brutally beat and caused her to miscarry.
James Junior Conley was found guilty April 17 of multiple sex-related offenses, including pimping, human trafficking and lewd acts on a child, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors said Conley was in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl, whom he met when she was 15, and demanded she work as a prostitute.
During that time, she became pregnant, prosecutors said, and when Conley found out, prosecutors said he brutally assaulted her and she miscarried.
Soon after, she escaped from Conley.
A 17-year-old prostitute arrested in June 2012 also told police that Conley was her pimp, prosecutors said. That same month, authorities arrested Conley while he was allegedly monitoring a sex worker.
