One dead, two injured in shooting on 15 Freeway offramp

Homicide detectives Sunday were investigating a shooting on a 15 Freeway offramp in Riverside County that left one person dead and two others injured.

At 6:33 p.m. Saturday, multiple people called 911 to report gunshots near the 15 Freeway’s El Cerrito Road offramp near Corona, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

Three men were shot, officials said. One died at a local hospital, and two others were treated for gunshot wounds.

Several 911 callers said rival motorcycle gangs, the Mongols and the Hells Angels, were shooting at each other, the California Highway Patrol said.

“Throughout Southern California, like any other type of gang violence, there’s incidents from time to time,” CHP Sgt. Ron Warrier said.

Anyone with information on the shooting is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777.
