Crossbow attack on homeless men leaves 1 dead near Arcata

A man and woman are wanted by authorities in Northern California on suspicion of killing a homeless man by shooting him in the face with a crossbow.

The attack occurred in a rural part of Humboldt County near Arcata on Sunday.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, police found one man with arrow wounds to the body and another man with fatal arrow wounds to the face. Authorities told the paper the suspects fled on bicycles and then ran into the woods.

Both victims lived in a homeless encampment in the area.

On Monday, police searched the area for the two suspects along Route 255, according to the Eureka Times-Standard.

The victims’ names were not released.
