Earthquake: Magnitude 3.5 quake strikes near Carmel Valley Village, Calif.

A shallow magnitude 3.5 earthquake was reported Sunday morning 11 miles from Carmel Valley Village, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The temblor occurred at 1:53 a.m. Pacific time at a depth of 9.3 miles.

According to the USGS, the epicenter was 17 miles from Monterey, 17 miles from Seaside, Calif., and 18 miles from Pacific Grove, Calif.

In the past 10 days, there has been one earthquake of magnitude 3.0 or greater centered nearby.
