Father, 25, left baby in unlocked, running car for 90 minutes at gym, LAPD says

A 25-year-old father is accused of leaving his infant daughter in his running car while he went inside a North Hollywood gym for about 90 minutes, the Los Angeles Police Department said Friday.

Solomon Allen was arrested on suspicion of child endangerment after a passerby found the 8-month-old in a parking structure at the 5300 block of Lankershim Boulevard, which has a 24 Hour Fitness on site, police said.

“The car was unlocked; citizens were able to safely remove the infant,” Officer Drake Madison said.

Madison said the baby was taken to a hospital as a precaution.

Police were alerted to the report of an unattended child in a running, parked vehicle at 8:58 a.m. Friday.

Madison called the findings of the police investigation disturbing. “Being a father myself, that just really bothers me,” he said.

Allen was held on $100,000 bail.
