A Lancaster man who led highway patrol officers on a high-speed chase that ended in a head-on collision was in custody Saturday on charges of drunk driving and eluding police, authorities said.

Patrol officers attempted to stop a Toyota Corolla driven by Delfino Eddie Rey, 58, on the 134 Freeway in Glendale on Friday night after receiving a report of a hit-and-run, according to a California Highway Patrol report. Instead, the report said, “the vehicle led units on a pursuit at speeds fluctuating between 10 to 80 mph.”

The chase continued east onto Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena with Rey driving between lanes and then crashing into an oncoming vehicle east of Linda Vista Avenue, the report said.
