3 lanes of southbound 5 reopen in Newhall; diesel spill had forced shutdown

Share

Three southbound lanes of Interstate 5 in Santa Clarita reopened early Saturday after a diesel spill had forced a shutdown of over three hours, the CHP reported.

A big rig spilled about 150 gallons of diesel fuel on the freeway at Calgrove Boulevard about 8:40 p.m., forcing the closure of all southbound lanes.

Officers diverted vehicles at the Lyons Avenue exit and allowed traffic back on the freeway at the Calgrove Boulevard on-ramp.
